olgheri: The traveler who arrives at Bogheri along the famous Viale dei Cipressi (Cypress Avenue), made immortal by past resident Giosue’ Carducci’s poem “Davanti a San Guido” (In front of Saint Guido), finds him or herself in a nurtured state of mind that is ideal to take in such a vision of incomparable beauty. Heralded by a luminous countryside landscape, the Bolgheri castle appears with its red bricks in a suggestive chromatic contrast with the silvery green of the olive trees and the darker green shade of the cypresses and woods around it. The village is accessible through an arched door and has preserved its original aspect as if time stopped. Here the passing of seasons is still marked by the surrounding fields’ and hills’ changing colors.
